Organizations attempt to conform to easily recognizable and acceptable standards within the organizational field, which helps foster the organization’s legitimacy. As these agencies confront ongoing global recession, organizational challenges and heightened demands for assistance in combating disease, the time has come for political scientists to work with the health policy community in exploring alternative ways of analysing, comparing and proposing solutions to strengthening these agencies.
